Olivenhain Municipal Water District

Olivenhain Municipal Water District is a public agency in southern California providing water, wastewater services, recycled water, hydroelectricity, and the operation of Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve.

Ballast and Bulb failure coupled with high maintenance and electricity cost for the water district became a thorn in the side of Rudy Petrovski Instrument Control Tech at Olivenhain Municipal Water District. Aging fixtures become an issue, especially in hazardous locations. His existing fixtures posed significant weight and size (which wears on poles and mounts) and relied on traditional light sources like metal halide. (which cost significantly more money to operate than today’s LED’s)

Due to difficult access within fixtures located high over water tanks and high up in pump rooms added to the cost and time required for a simple lamp change, which was often only possible during planned downtime.

Rudy wanted the least invasive upgrade as possible.  With the infrastructure like poles, conduit, wiring and tops hat mounts already in place, why should he have to replace an entire fixture.   Rudy found Arcus through his partner and local distributor.  Retro-Fit connects with Crouse Hinds, Appleton, Holophane, Killark, and GE Top Hat mountings utilizing all the existing infrastructure and only purchasing the lower portion of the light.  In addition to replacing a fixture in 10 mins; Arcus LED’s are some of the longest maintenance-free performing fixtures of any other industrial LED lighting manufacturer.  Our compact, lightweight fixtures make it easy for one person to replace a fixture. The design of the retro-fit coupled with the compact light weight body provided the perfect solution for replacement of any existing installation while only replacing the bottom portion of the fixture and helping save material and labor for upgrades in hazardous, wet, and dusty environments.
